Perfect Family Trucks to Consider | Brownsville, TX

Do you need the hauling and towing capability of a truck, but space and comfort for the whole family too? This is the list for you. Below are the perfect family trucks to consider — but first, a little bit about body styles.

Choose your body style

If you need space for the kids, your chosen truck’s body style matters. When interior space is paramount, you should get a crew cab model whenever possible, as this means you’ll get four full-size doors and plenty of room even at the back.

However, there is a drawback: crew cab trucks tend to be slightly less capable. Oftentimes, this is not by a lot, but if towing capability really matters to you and you still need space, that’s when you ought to consider a truck with an extended cab instead.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is the bestselling vehicle in America for many good reasons. It’s powerful, spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with good safety too. It has top safety scores in testing by both the NHTSA and IIHS, and on SuperCab or SuperCrew models, there’s even room for a family of six. As a truck, it’s the whole package. That being said, the SuperCab uses rear-hinged access doors to get into the rear seat, so accessibility is a little compromised.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Unlike the F-150, the Silverado 1500 has short, forward-hinged doors that make it easy to access the rear seats. It’s not quite as roomy as the F-150, but it makes up for it with superior fuel economy. Among all full-size pickup trucks, the Silverado 1500 takes the gold medal when it comes to efficiency.

Toyota Tacoma

A full-size truck isn’t necessary for family hauling. The midsize Tacoma is available in four and five-passenger configurations and still gets strong towing ratings. It has a roomy and comfortable front row with lots of cool infotainment features, including Siri® Eyes Free and a 6.1-inch touch screen. It doesn’t have Android Auto integration yet, though, so you’ll need to get the F-150 or the Silverado 1500 if that’s important to you.

At Tipton Auto in Brownsville, Texas, we offer a variety of trucks to suit your needs. Check out our inventory of midsize and full-size pre-owned trucks and find the perfect one for your family!
